Air Travel Between Europe and Israel Restored as Routes Reopen

Wizz Air announced that it will resume flights to and from Tel Aviv starting May 28, restoring connections between Israel and a number of European destinations after a suspension linked to regional security concerns.

The airline, which says it remains the largest carrier by market share in Bulgaria, stated that the decision follows updated guidance from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency and came after ongoing coordination with aviation authorities, local officials, and security services.

According to the company, tickets for the renewed flights are already available through its website and mobile application. Wizz Air added that it will continue monitoring developments in the region closely and maintain communication with aviation safety bodies and government institutions.

The carrier stressed that schedules could still change depending on future official recommendations and security assessments.

With the reopening of its Tel Aviv operations, Wizz Air is also reinforcing its position in the Israeli market, where it remains one of the leading low-cost airlines. The company currently operates more than 1,000 routes across its network and aims to transport around 80 million passengers by 2026.

Ian Malin, the airline's Chief Commercial Officer, described the move as a carefully considered step. ?As a trusted European airline and the leading low-cost carrier in Israel, we are delighted to confirm our return to Tel Aviv,? he said.

Malin emphasized that passenger and crew safety remains the company's top priority and said the decision had been taken ?carefully and responsibly.? He added that Wizz Air looks forward both to welcoming Israeli travelers back on board and to reconnecting European passengers with Israel. ?We look forward to enabling our millions of customers across Europe to experience the incredible culture that Israel has to offer,? he said.
