Gardaí Charge Man After €500,000 Cocaine Find at Dublin Airport

DUBLIN, Ireland — A man in his 60s has been charged after approximately €500,000 worth of cocaine was seized at Dublin Airport, hidden inside bags of lollipops, as part of a major Garda operation targeting organised crime.

The seizure was made on Thursday by Revenue officers, assisted by the Ballymun Drugs Unit, under An Garda Síochána's GNECB Operation Skein. The drugs, weighing approximately 5 kg, were discovered when officers stopped and searched a passenger's baggage and found the cocaine concealed within bags of lollipops.

In follow-up searches, Gardaí seized a further €16,000 in cash and various controlled drugs valued at an additional €14,500.

The suspect, a man aged in his 60s, was arrested in connection with the investigation and has since been charged. He appeared before the Criminal Courts of Justice (CCJ No. 4) on Friday.

As the matter is now before the courts, An Garda Síochána has said it will not be commenting further. Investigations are ongoing.
